Story
Hi there family, friends, and anyone who's just having a nosy!
At the start of April I will be swapping Scotland for Ghana to take part in a 12 week placement with International Service, an organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights of the most marginalised people in Latin America, West Africa, and the Middle East. While I'm in Ghana I will be working with local volunteers to support the inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of society, encourage young people to stay in education, and build the livelihoods of local artisans. I will be part of International Citizens Service, an overseas volunteering programme for 18-25 year olds, funded by the UK Government’s Department for International Development. My fundraising will help to cover logistical costs as well as (and most importantly) paying for the training of local volunteer who will be with me the whole way!
My challenge starts long before my flight leaves - I have a fundraising target of £1,500 to reach before I leave. I will be taking part in two personal challenges: 'Living Below the Line' and a 16 km hike around Skye. As I'm sure some of you are aware I love the indoors and cooking with ridiculous ingredients (*ahem* pomegranate molasses *ahem*) so these challenges really will be challenges! I'll be posting here and on Facebook to keep you updated.
Donating through Just Giving is really quick, easy and completely safe. If you are lucky enough to be a taxpayer, any contribution you make goes even further.
If you can spare just a few pounds towards my appeal, it would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks for visiting my page!
