Story
I've lost 44 lbs in the process and now in my 30's I'm fitter and happier than I have ever been and I also hope that I am setting a good example for my girls.
I took my body for granted, who doesn't, and I didn't ever think that it could do anything very much and certainly nothing very special.
We live within the walls that we create... but we don't have to.
Deciding and training to run the London Marathon has taught me that I can do more than I thought was possible, my body is capable of things I didn't dare dream of and now I want to push it to do something truly challenging.
As some may know, I have have a chronic disease, Ulcerative Colitis which can be tough. It's not pretty, it's embarrassing and often painful, with pretty constant fatigue. However I am luckier than others, with this condition, to be physically able to run, so I'm not about to waste that opportunity. I'm never going to be cured of this disease but by running and staying healthy I'm doing all I can to keep it in remission.
I have discovered that my mind is actually stronger than I thought and that if you think I'm crazy, then maybe I am, but I'm definitely more determined than sensible, which I think will get me over the finish line.
My personal goal is not only to finish the VLM but to run the whole 26.2 miles and I hope to finish in under 5 hours.
My Charity
Phab Kids! are a wonderful charity, raising money for people who struggle to do the every day things, who have to consider if they can physically do all the things we give no thought to. The people who they help often feel left out, or are excluded from activities for their physical difficulties. Phab Kids! organise activities that takes that away for a little while and lets them be just like everyone else, enjoying life, with friends.
If by doing the VLM I can help do just a little good for the people that Phab Kids! support it will have been worth every blister, every sore muscle and all the blood, sweat and tears that goes into training for a marathon.
Please help me to support them. Thank you so much xx
