Story

Hi everyone,

I am not usually one for an emotional post on social media, so I apologise in advance, but this one is for charity and is something that is very close to my heart. This year I am lucky enough to be running the London Marathon for my third time. I recently decided that I would like to run in memory of my dad this year. Many of you may know that my dad passed away when he was 34 years old from brain cancer, I was very young at the time and therefore most of my memories of him come from video footage and stories shared by family and friends. He was a very physically active person and worked as a professional skier, running an off-piste ski business in Val D’Isere with three of his friends (that still runs today). He has been described to me as a free spirit, very kind, sometimes stubborn and someone who was incredibly determined and loved a challenge. For those of you who know me well, I have certainly inherited his passion for a challenge, love of sport and most probably some of his stubbornness!!

It feels right for me to raise money in memory of him by doing something physical and to raise money for the brain tumour charity/ cancer research UK. I have always loved running and feel incredibly lucky to also have two very physically active and supportive parents who tolerate my running addiction (let’s not forget that Mark used to be my running coach and was the person with whom I ran my first half marathon). I know I have run this distance before, but this year I am hoping to push myself to go that bit faster and if I am lucky enough to qualify again next year, you have my word that I will run in fancy dress, dressed in a ski suit (sorry mum) to continue raising money for the same cause. For those of you who didn’t already think I was slightly loopy, I am sure there is no doubt in your mind now!!

I am incredibly passionate about this cause and I have set a target, but really I am just hoping to raise as much as I can. I would really appreciate anything you can give me.

Much love,

Ghiselle xxx
