Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you know, I have now been raising money for various charities for nearly 10 years and I have a core of 6 charities. After much deliberation I put all 6 charities into a hat and pulled one out!
I will be running / pushing a toilet (Bog) from Bognor Regis Pier to Brighton Pier on October 2nd for Diabetes UK, as part of the Virtual London Marathon. Diabetes UK is a charity that is extremely close to my heart.
In 2017 my eldest Son Harvey, then 13 was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes. This was a real shock and a massive learning curve for us a a family! It took a lot of time and hard work from all of us but we got there.
Then in February 2020 just prior to his 12th Birthday, my other son Theo was diagnosed with the same condition! Apparently the odds drop from about 100,000 - 1 to 10 - 1 when a sibling is diagnosed.
We just could not believe our luck but Theo had watched his brother over these 3 years and took to administering his medication, like a duck to water, quite incredible for a 12 year old.
Both my boys and my wife Karen have been awesome throughout. For me my ambition and drive is to help raise money, to assist with the funding of research into this condition. As a parent a Dad, it is my duty to do what I can. If it was as easy as swapping positions I would and I wish it were that easy.
I am hoping that what I am doing will bring a smile to peoples faces and hopefully a chuckle too. I am pushing a toilet for 26.2 miles, I have called myself; "One Man and His Bog". The toilet seat can be raised on route but cash deposits only! An I will be asking for you to spend a Penny wisely.
I am really hoping that everyone gets behind me and if I get a smile, a smirk, a giggle, in return please make a donation to my page. You will be helping Diabetes UK to help my boys and help approximately 400,000 other people living with this condition
Many thanks as always and thank you for taking the time to visit my page. Much love and kind regards G xxx
