Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I will be learning, and reciting from memory, the poem "The Lion and Albert" by Marriot Edgar. In doing so, I will also do my best to attempt something resembling a 1930s accent from somewhere a bit further north than Hitchin, although please don't expect a Stanley Holloway impression.

I found it challenging to compose a poem last year so will also do that again (reading it out on the evening). However, it will not be in the following form:

          Composing a poem is tough.

          But limericks? They're easy stuff.

So they don't quite pass muster

          As a challenge; they're just a

         Small gesture, quite token. Enough!

So why am I asking for sponsorship?

Since I joined Citizens Advice North Hertfordshire (CANH) as a trustee of the charity in 2005, I have seen many changes to the organisation and the external environment. However, one constant is the amazing help that is provided to thousands of people locally each year.

It makes a big difference.

Across the service, when surveyed, 4 in 5 clients said advice improved their lives, reducing stress and improving finances and health. That helps not just them, but all of us through creating a stronger and healthier community.

Our volunteering opportunities offer people fulfilling roles and help some people in their search for employment.

Any funds that CANH can raise go a long way as a result of our volunteer support. By sponsoring me, or anyone else participating in this event, you can help us maintain and develop our service in the year ahead.
