Story

Marissa's 1st Anniversary 07/07/2019 ...

For those of you that didn't know my daughter  Marissa she was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Brain Tumour 28th December 2016. She had surgery 4th January 2017 where they removed most of it. She was then put on steroids started chemotherapy and radiotherapy and gained 5 stone .

After all the treatments were finished she would have to have an MRI scan every 3 months for the rest of her life.

For the 2 years that followed she was doing really well she fell in love and became pregnant. Due to being pregnant she was 5 weeks late having her MRI scan as its not save in the 1st trimester .

When she had the scan its showed that the Tumour had returned, she ask the Doctor if anyone in her postion had given birth  and survived and he said yes.

Marissa was determined to have her baby (anyone that knows Marissa  knows she does what she wants end of). I was so happy for her I honestly thought and believed all would be ok.

We found out the baby was a girl and she named her Amari ...

She then and to have a 2nd surgery to remove the Tumour and they did their best to get it all out. She left the hospital 2 days later like nothing had happened she was even laughing at the fact she'd had an other brain surgery and felt so good.

It was then a few weeks later that she had a funny turn and was taken into hospital Saturday 22nd June 2019. After a horrific 2 weeks in Morriston hospital and lots of meeting with lots of different Doctors, they were going to transfer her to Cardiff hospital as it wasn't looking good for Marissa but were going to keep Marissa going on machines and oxygen to try save Amari.

She was 21 weeks pregnant at this point and got to Cardiff Heath Hospital Friday 5th July. Once she was there they did a lot of tests and it was on Sunday 7th July she was no longer with us.

Its was over the next 2 weeks that Marissa started to deteriorate, her head become twice the size and she has sepsis. Due to all this and that Amari had not had a good environment in the last 4 weeks the Doctors weren't willing to take Amari out as she would have had a lot of health issues if she'd survived . It was Monday 22nd July 2019 that they stopped the machines, oxygen and she was gone again for forever.

Please lets keep my beautiful girls memory alive and donate to one of Marissa's favorite places to go to Maggie's Centre...

Thank you from the bottom of my heart ...
