Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Next summer I will be volunteering in India, a developing country – staying there for five weeks – as part of the Lasallian Developing World Projects. This is a registered charity that has been working in the Third World since 1985, organising projects to raise funds and recruit volunteers to help with the construction of houses and school buildings vital to the future development and education of the community.
Raising money to sponsor building houses and schools, and sending out teams of young people to get involved with the construction and life of the local communities, is essential work. It hugely benefits these communities in need as well as raising awareness back here in Britain of the challenges faced by people living in such areas.
The journey, the accommodation and the contribution towards the essential building materials will cost £1600, which each individual volunteer has to raise for themselves. My objective is to raise this money by March, through sponsorship from companies/organisations and self-organised fundraising events.
Any offer of sponsorship, fundraising events, or donation large or small would be greatly appreciated; it would be incredible to have the backing of the community in this venture.
It has been estimated that over 1700 pupils in the third world have received an education which they would not otherwise have received, thanks to the Lasallian Developing World Projects during its first decade of work. I therefore hope that you can appreciate what an incredible difference your support could make to this effort.
Thank you! xx
