Awyr Las (Blue Sky) is the North Wales NHS Charity. Through the charity you can support the specific hospital wards, departments or community healthcare services that are closest to your heart. Your support helps fund added extras which the NHS in North Wales cannot provide.

Story

Yes - we know you get lots of these....so many thanks for your patience!

This is a joint message from Duncan Cameron, Eduardas Subkovacs, Brian Tehan, Hywel Watkin, Russ Morris, Delyth Morris, Indrajit Chatterjee, Krishnamurthy Ganeshram, Vedamurthy Adhiyaman, Brian Eadon, Elaine Moss, Lindsay Groves,  Annemarie Schmidt, Catriona Chalmers, John Glen, and Alison Devine.

We are doing the Welsh Three Peaks challenge on Saturday June 14th.

Since 2006, Glan Clwyd hospital has had a link with a 200 bed hospital in Ethiopia, in a dusty town called Hossana. The staff there do a great job in very difficult circumstances, and on a shoe-string budget. Currently they need a new industrial size washing machine for the hospital, and also want to build a latrine block for the out-patients area. There are around 300 outpatients each day, each usually accompanied by one or two others. So that is quite a big demand for facilities....!

Last year, Glan Clwyd hospital staff and local well-wishers funded a new latrine block for the inpatients and their relatives. Simple, sustainable and crucially important.

So we decided to set a day aside for a fund-raising walk up Snowdon, Cadair Idris in Mid-Wales, and finishing (ourselves?) off with Pen Y Fan in South Wales. And then have a beer or two in Merthyr Tydfil.
