Story

On the 31st October last year I received a phone call out of the blue, that would change my life forever, my Dad, Glyn Hill, had suffered a Cardiac Arrest. After a 7 day fight, sadly he lost his battle and passed away peacefully on November 7th 2019, aged 61.

For those that knew him, you will understand just how unexpected it was, being such an active man and a "young" 61. His love of sports (particularly football & Manchester United) and keeping fit is something he instilled in me from an early age, and a passion that we both shared. The night it happened, the last messages he to sent me were explaining he'd just won at Squash and that "The Scousers ragged it again" referring to another Liverpool win.

In the following weeks & months, my own way of managing the grief, as it is for many, was and continues to be, through running. I knew almost straight away, that a goal or event to focus on would be a fitting way to remember him, an outlet for myself, and hopefully a beneficial contribution to Charity to try and support other families who face similar circumstances far too frequently.

In a turn of serendipity, before he passed, my Dad, knowing my passion for running, had bought me a Trail Running book on routes to explore in the UK, which I opened on Christmas Day, and knew immediately would be the foundation of my run.

Using a route inspired by the book, on August 22nd this year in Grasmere, The Lake District, myself and a team of close friends will be aiming to complete an Ultra Marathon of 61 kilometres and circa 4000 metres of incline in one day, in honor of my Dad's 61 years of life. Glyn's Hills.

With this in mind, we shall be raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support of donations and fundraising, that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.

Any donations will be hugely appreciated, and I will not be able to thank you enough.

Lad's we've got some training to do now...

Thanks,

Liam
