Hi,
As you may know my wife, Chris passed away on the 7th February 2011. In the final week of Chris's life Marie Curie provided us with a night nurse at home and whilst either me, Kelly or Craig where always by Chris's side the nurse provided us with help and support which was very much appreciated and free of charge.
What you won't know is that we have been caring for Chris's mum's ashes since 1993! It was Chris's intention to take them back to Scotland but in the end she could not bring herself to part with them.
It is my intention to go to Kinlochleven in Scotland, Chris's mum's home town and scatter their ashes together. I intend to do this by walking from the start of the Grand Union Canal in London and then use a number of National Trail Routes thereby keeping walking on roads to a minimum. The outline route is:
Grand Union Canal
Oxford Canal
Coventry & Ashby Canal
Trent & Mersey Canal
Bridgewater Canal
Leeds & Liverpool Canal
Lancaster Canal
A6
A7
B7076
B7078
A724
A81
A809
West Highland Way
If everything goes to plan then I intend to start on 7th June, after Kelly's wedding on the 4th and be home before the end of July.
I have not set myself a target to raise or a time to complete the walk in it is just something that I know I am going to do. In these hard times all I ask is that you consider sponsoring me for any amount that you are able to donate and which will be gratefully received.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Dear Friends,
Just a quick note, to say a big thank you for your fantastic generosity in sponsoring my walk from Paddington to Kinlochleven in Scotland, which was in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and in memory of my darling wife Chris.
I set out from the start of the Grand Union Canal on the 7 June and then followed the towpaths of the Oxford, Coventry, Trent & Mersey, Leeds Liverpool and Lancaster canals to get up to Kendal, from there it was following the roads up through Prestwick, Carlisle, Gretna, Lockerbie and on up to Glasgow. The final stage of my journey was to walk the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Kinlochleven. I reached Kinlochleven on the 16 July having walked approximately 565 miles in 40 days.
Along the way I renewed some old friendships and made many more new ones, all in all it was a great adventure!
Your kind donations helped me to raise a total of £5,341.47
Thank you once again for your tremendous support,
Fond Regards,
Gordon
