Hi,
Those who know me well will be surprised I have created this page already as I like to think I can keep things until the last minute and wing it. But I'm running my FIRST ever marathon on 28th April 2019 and have a lot of long training sessions in the dark ahead of me.
I chose to run on behalf of MIND charity and I'm so happy I've been given this opportunity to raise both money and awareness. This is a cause I'm passionate about and it's personal to me.
We all have a 'mental health' whether that is good or bad, but 1 in 4 people every year experience mental health problems. I want to remove the stigma surrounding it too- during my marathon training I want anyone who might be struggling to know I'm approachable.
Especially in light of recent events in the media, mental health issues need to be taken far more seriously. Suicide rates continue to increase and you honestly never know who might be struggling. The money that is raised contributes to the running of crucial 24 hour helplines. You don't need to donate a huge sum to make a difference, even the amount you might spend buying a drink on a night out would be really appreciated!
I try to never bombard people for donations, so this is another first for me. Anything you can spare I would really appreciate; I have some fun ideas.. and am willing to embarrass myself as a further incentive to generate donations.
