Cambridge House is a charity founded by Cambridge University students to combat the effects of deprivation in one of the poorest parts of South London.
I've been
associated with Cambridge House for many years as a trustee and
have seen for myself the excellent work they do. Their skilled volunteers and employees work
with disadvantaged people, mostly in the London Borough of Southwark where I live, but also throughout London.
Their mission is to help people with multiple problems to contribute economically, and realise their
full potential. They tackle the root causes of
poverty, focusing especially on vulnerable children and on people with mental health issues,
learning difficulties, drug abuse etc..
I've seen for myself the positive impact which the unique expertise of Cambridge House can achieve- e.g. art projects for children & adults with learning difficulties; free professional legal advice for families in financial or legal trouble; help in finding employment. This work helps give young people the confidence to get away from drugs & violence and to become active law-abiding citizens.
To see examples please click on the Cambridge House logo, and/or read a couple of quotes at the foot of this page ....
And finally..........this is probably the last time I'll be asking you for money, doing such a long ride, at my age!
Thank you for reading this. Your donation will be used wisely to bring back some social cohesion.
Best wishes,
Graham

Two quotes.....
“If I hadn't had the support of the Life Coaches at Cambridge House I would surely be dead or in jail. Now I can see a future in which I am unafraid and more hopeful” Quote from a young person.
“Alex (not
his real name) has severe learning disabilities and autism. He has limited
verbal communications but since Alex started participating in a scheme at
Cambridge House his social skills have improved immensely. He is integrating
and socialising a lot more. He is learning to say more words clearly and
is trying more to express himself.” Quote from a carer.
