Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Between 9th and 14th June I am cycling from Melsonby to Thurso in the Scottish Highlands and seeking sponsorship of £1 per mile.  If you can sponsor one mile or several that would be great, please use the JustGiving link.  

Note that all the costs associated with the ride such as accommodation and food have already been met and your donation will go to the charity. As to why I'm doing this please read on.....

Although Melsonby has many active groups, it has no community hall. The church is used to host village events, concerts, plays and meetings as well as weddings, baptisms and funerals.  The church has no running water supply, so four years ago a project team launched the 'Flush Fund' to raise money to install a WC, kitchen and meeting room.  

Thanks to the efforts of the community and several grants, the fund is moving towards the amount required to start the building; this ride is to raise further money towards the fund.

Why Thurso? A few years ago some friends moved from Melsonby to Thurso, and during their 'send-off' in The Black Bull, a combination of poor geography, an over-estimation of my cycling ability, and a slight excess of beer led me to commit that I would cycle to their new home.

If you do wish to sponsor me please note that I will be putting updates on Facebook at the end of each day's ride (those that know me will understand that this is as challenging as the cycling for me) and will thank those who have sponsored miles that day. If you do not wish for your name to appear on Facebook, either use a fictious name so I end up thanking Richard III, Robin Hood, Bobby Charlton and so on, or put 'anonymous'.
