Having survived the recent Clevedon 24 hour swim relay, our 4 woman team, myself, Clare Boswell, Michele Stokes-Sheldon and Nicky Tonks (Granger’s Angels) are now gearing up for the big one, which weather and tide permitting, will take place sometime between the 10th and the 17th August 2022. Ably coached by Dave Granger (aka Grave Danger) himself a solo and relay veteran and supported and mentored by honorary angel John Bennett we intend to just keep swimming until we get to France. 

Having lost a good friend and serial daft challenge participant, John O’Brien late last year, it was an obvious choice to fund raise for the British Heart Foundation in John’s memory. I hope to channel (see what I did there!) some of John’s enthusiasm and general ‘have a go’ mentality to keep me going on what will be a huge mental as well as physical challenge. I also know that John would have totally approved of this challenge as something new and completely outside my comfort zone. Having first met John at Triathlon Redditch, when he had signed up for a half Ironman event having lots of running experience but never really ridden a bike and not really swum much at all. He had total faith that the club and enthusiasm would get him through and I feel like this challenge would have appealed to his try everything spirit. In essence I am hoping to #BelikeJohn. 

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
