Story

Portsmouth & Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards is the charity which provides a lifeguard and inshore rescue service to Portsmouth's 4 miles of beaches.

This year Portsmouth City Council withdrew the last of the small amount of funding previously given. As one of the 50 or so independant lifeguard and lifeboat services in the UK it receives no funding from the RNLI either. It is now dependent entirely on voluntary donations from the public to keep the service going. To run the station, its two lifeboats, off-road ambulance it requires a lot of volunteers and about £20,000 a year.

This is something close to my heart and I would be grateful if you could donate any amount (no matter how small) to help this invaluable service continue to operate.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
