Story
Eamonn Dolan and Mervyn Whiteman were (and are still) beloved members of our family. Everyone loved to be around them as they lit up every room they entered with their humour and positivity. We carry their memory with us every day. They were taken from us far too soon and we want to raise money in an effort to find more effective treatments and a cure for bladder cancer.
Bladder cancer is not a rare cancer - it is one of the ten most common cancers in the UK - that's 4% of all new cases.Over 20,000 people are diagnosed each year, and many of those will die. Despite this, there is very limited public awareness of the disease and it is a low priority on the public health agenda. Treatments have changed very little over the past 30 years and research is seriously underfunded. Bladder cancer has been called a 'Cinderella' cancer. ABC UK is dedicated to changing this and to giving bladder cancer patients a voice.
