We deliver a mix of services to help people improve their mental health

Send a letter - receive a letter - support mental health!

The idea is simple.

1) Donate a wee something to Health In Mind via this page.

2) Use this google form to sign up and send me your details:

3) Send (and receive) your letter!

Watch the video here:

Once you have signed up, I will send you an email with someone else's name and address, and maybe one or two details about them that they have chosen to share.  Your job is to write that person a letter - a little personal connection in this time of screens and social distance!  You can be as creative as you like: send a handwritten note, a wee drawing, a recipe, even a good book... what you send is up to you.

Meanwhile, someone else will receive your name and address, and they will write you a letter - so you will have something nice in the post to look forward to.

Cute, but why?

Lockdown is taking a toll on everyone's mental health.  Charities such as Health In Mind are facing a real challenge: to continue to provide their services when they are most desperately needed, when at the same time their usual fundraising channels have all but disappeared.

We are all separated from family and friends just now, and many of us are suffering from "screen fatigue": virtual meetings; group zoom calls of varying success; instagram challenges...  This is an opportunity to connect with other people in a meaningful way that doesn't involve screens.  By taking part, you'll be supporting vital services in Edinburgh and the Lothians whilst also giving your own mental health a boost and brightening someone else's day!

Ok - gimme the T's and C's!

By filling in the google form and signing up you are - obviously - agreeing to the information you give being shared with other people taking part (but I won't share it anywhere else).  I will, of course, delete your information once the project is over.

I'm just the facilitator; what you put in the letter is up to you.  Obviously that means I can't be responsible for what you send - or equally, what you are sent!  But I bet it will be something lovely.

I recommend that you consider lockdown guidelines when writing your letter.  Wash your hands before you start and maybe avoid licking any envelopes!  Sensible precautions, please, folks - that should keep the risks of any cross-contamination very low.

That's all, folks!  Have fun sending and receiving your letters :)  I can't wait to hear how it goes!
