Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi all, our amazing friends at Alfresco Festival 2019 have very kindly donated to Grooveschool a family ticket worth £350!!!! for next weekend. We've decided the best way we can utilise this and raise a little for our summer projects is by a raffle! If you'd like to enter then a £20 donation will get you one entry, on Wednesday night (22nd May) during our workshop, one of our young DJs who will be playing the festival on the Saturday and Sunday will pull the entry out of a record bag. To make a donation, and by all means if you'd like to support the summer workshops and can't make Alfresco, or just really like us then please let us know on our justgiving page below. Cutoff this Wednesday 5pm. All names will go into the record bag and we’ll do the drawer live. Cheers to everyone who's made this happen, it really is a fantastic event with an incredible line up. And good luck to those having a go! 🙂 Much love from Grooveschool x

Grooveschool runs DJ and Music Technology Workshops in Brixton and Tulse Hill

Due to cuts and the competitive nature of the current funding options, so to not stop what we provide in the Summer, we're trying to raise money to cover our workshops so that they're accessible to all.

We aim to be open 3-4 days a week for the 5 or so weeks leading up to August bank holiday. Young people will be learning how to put sets together, make tracks, document their progress in a blog and learn a whole host of new skills by doing so.

The workshops involve playing and listening to records and learning basic DJ skills. Using record decks, DJ mixers and computers. Learning how to set-up, cue, fade, place a mix, put a set together and beatmatch; EQ, add Fx and an introduction to scratching. Incorporating multi-media programs and controllers to record and create sounds; loops, tracks and mixes.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
