Story
London Metropolitan University Faculty of Business and Law is based in Electra House in the heart of Moorgate. Many of you will have known it as “The London Guildhall University”. It’s a beautiful building but did you know it is also important historically?
It played an early role in the development of the international telegraph system, and was home to the cable network between Great Britain and Japan. Now the University plans to renovate the foyer to its former glory.
This is just part of a large renovation project at Moorgate following extensive investment in student hubs and the refurbishment of seminar rooms, lecture theatres and study spaces. There will also be a mini museum to make sure the improved space is stimulating for students, staff and the public.
The London Guildhall Faculty of Business and Law and the University is calling on alumni, staff, students, friends and neighbours to contribute to its restoration fund and help to transform the foyer to its former glory.
A sponsor a brick campaign has been launched to help reach the fundraising goal of £50,000 – please donate whatever you can and help to reveal a little piece of the capital's history and further improve the student experience at London Met.
