Story
I have over the years seen family and friends have or had Cancer. Some are now in the clear, others are still suffering and seeking support. I have also lost two people that were very close to me to Cancer. One was my work colleague @BNYMellon Jermaine Barrett and secondly a close friend and brother Makhan Singh Johal, whom I knew for over 34 years. Makhan was very passionate about helping and serving his local community here in the UK and in India. He loved playing and supporting the Indian sport Kabaddi, he was a Bhangra artist/singer and funded sports projects and Cancer appeals in Punjab, even setting up a Club promoting and creating a platform for female Boxers in Punjab. He was always there for me over the years and cherish some great memories of time spent with them. We shared a very close bond and for whom along with Jermaine I am dedicating and running the London Marathon. Hopefully with your support we can raise much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We all must know at least one person that has been diagnosed with Cancer or died fighting it. Since I started this journey earlier this year, I have already lost another family member to Cancer, my father's uncle Ram Singh Binning, who I owe alot too, because of him I learnt to read and write Punjabi and passed my GCSE in Punjabi at 11 years of age, he was a great soul.
Please! help and support me by raising funds for Macmillan and more importantly take some time to think of those loved ones.
At Macmillan, they give people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are their worries. They’re doing whatever it takes. But without your help they can’t support everyone who needs them.
