THE 4th
HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY VETERANS CAR RALLY ARRAS –
YPRES - VALHALLA
My next challenge for the early part of 2019
The 4th Household Cavalry Veterans car rally will take
place from 1 – 3 March 2019 on the roads of Northern France and Belgium.
Aim. The Aims of the rally are:
a.To provide an opportunity for veterans of the Household Cavalry and some select civilians to come together and raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity.
b.To visit the battlefields and memorials of The Great War and learn about this defining moment in world history.
c.To pay our respects to the fallen and take part in the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate.
d.To drink beer, not whilst driving I may add.
Location: The Rally will start in Folkestone, Kent before crossing the Channel and taking in the Pas De Calais and Flanders.20 cars will be crewed by as many bodies that can fit in a car. The 1stRV will be The Road of Remembrance in Folkestone, Kent. @ 0700hrs on Friday the 1st March 2019.
Our Team (Team Hombres) consists of 3 ugly old veterans Toby Turner, Andy Stubbings, Malcolm Gilligan and I, our aim is simple, to get to the final RV The Last Post Ceremony, Menin Gates in Ypres for 19.30hrs on Saturday 2nd March, and to return on my Birthday raising as much funds as possible for this great charity.
Charity: This year our chosen charity is Combat Stress. Combat Stress is celebrating its own centenary. They have been helping former service personnel with the mental after effects of service since 1919. The Combat Stress vehicle will start roaming Norfolk come January, please feel free to give me a wave and don’t forget to donate to our giving page by either visiting the online page or simply scan the car, and this will take you straight to our page if and when you see us scooting about.
