Story

TO ALL MY AMAZING SPONSORS,

I DID IT!

I am working my way through all the names on my JustGiving page, but some of you left no details so I hope you might look me up again and see this message.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!  To date you have helped me raise over £9,000 for BRAIN TUMOUR RESEARCH which is over 3 times my original target. The response has been truly amazing and very humbling.  I hope that I have also raised awareness of this awful disease and that the work of the dedicated research centres continues to make valuable progress in finding better treatments.

Looks like TODAY'S THE DAY.  After 2 false starts the weather gods are with us, so at 2pm today, August 4th I will be receiving instructions on how to exit a plane at 10,000 ft with some sort of decorum.  A massive thank you to all those who have supported me and the worthy charity BRAIN TUMOUR RESEARCH.

WISH ME LUCK!

Hello everyone,

Just to let you know the Jump is rescheduled for July 28th.  High winds put paid to my first attempt so fingers crossed and nerve endings stretched...

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My husband John, never met his eleven grandchildren.  He died 21 years ago, just days after his 49th birthday of a brain tumour.  His own father also died of a brain tumour 36 years previously, when John was just 12 years old.

We were shocked to discover that the prognosis had barely changed in all that time.  Historically, just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to brain tumours.  They kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer.

More women die under the age of 35 of a brain tumour than breast or any other cancer.  More men die under the age of 45 of a brain tumour than prostate or any other cancer.

On June 11th, John would have been 70 so to mark the occasion I intend to jump out of a plane to help raise much needed funds for BRAIN TUMOUR RESEARCH www.braintumourresearch.org

I am terrified of heights, but my skydive will be over in minutes and I get to go home to my family.  It can't be nearly as frightening as being told you have a brain tumour.  Unlike most other cancers, brain cancer deaths are rising - 10% for women and 15% for men from 1970 to 2011.  Much more research is needed to discover the cause of brain tumours and to understand their behaviour.

£2,740 funds just ONE DAY of research so please help me to raise as much as possible.  Brain tumours are responsible for over 20 years of life lost.  Give others the chance to see their families grow and flourish
