UPDATE! I ran the Great North Run on Sunday 18th September, 2011, in 2:30:31. Thanks to everyone who's donated, or just wished me luck! I'm really pleased to have got round the course, and even more to have hit the fundraising target for Beating Bowel Cancer. There were 85 people running for B.B.C. (I met about 8 of them during and after the race) and thousands more running for other charities: it was great, and very moving, to be part of this!

I started running in November 2010, and in March 2011 I ran the Liverpool Half Marathon. At the second mile, I spotted some people running for Cancer Research. One girl had a vest with "Running in memory of Jack" on it, and I was moved to tears for the next mile.
My mother went through surgery for bowel cancer last year, and is now recovering. I'll be doing the Great North Run to raise money to help more people like mum to be treated successfully. And in memory of Jack.
