Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are walking in memory of Margaret Hanna (Anne's mum) and Tommy Hanna (Ta Ha) who died from bowel cancer and also in support of family members who are currently living with a diagnosis of bowel cancer and Hodgkins lymphoma.
We also all have many friends who sadly have passed away due to cancer and our walk is also in support of them too.
We would like to walk to raise awareness of Bowel Cancer and the amazing work of Bowel Cancer UK.
Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in Northern Ireland and the second biggest cancer killer. Every year more than 1.100 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer and over 400 people die from the disease. However it's preventable, treatable and curable especially if diagnosed early.
The symptoms of bowel cancer include:
- Bleeding from your bottom and/or blood in your poo
- A persistant and unexplained change in bowel habit
- Unexplained weight loss
- Extreme tiredness for no obvious reason
- A pain or lump in your tummy
Most people with these symptoms don't have bowel cancer. Other health problems can cause similar symptoms. If you have one or more of these, or if things just don't feel right, SEE YOUR GP. it could save your life.
