What am I doing?

Hello everyone! I've decided to start this page early so that I can get as many donations as possible.

The challenge I've set myself is to be completely silent for 48 hours. I'm going to attempt this on the 9th and 10th of May 2011. These are the first two days back at University after Easter and therefore not speaking will be an even greater challenge. I have lectures and seminars all day and will be coming in to contact with lots of people. Anyone who knows me well knows that it's even a challenge for me to be quiet for a matter of minutes!

Why am I doing it?

Dementia affects 750,000 people in the UK alone and it can affect any one of us for no apparent reason. It's a horrible disease and it slowly takes away your loved ones piece by piece. However, it is also a disease in to which much research can be carried out in order to work towards a cure - with your help. My nan is currently suffering greatly from Alzheimer's disease and so I'm doing this for her, the money I raise on here and through collection on the days will all go to the Alzheimer's society.
