Hello! I’m really excited to tell you that I have been selected to volunteer overseas with International Service on an International Citizen Service placement. ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development. 

I will be volunteering in Ghana for three months from early January 2017. I will be living with a host family and working with a in-country volunteer at a local charity placement! The organisation I'm volunteering with is called international Service and they empower women, children, young people and disabled people to access their rights in developing countries across the world.

The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of International Service and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can to continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.

Amongst other things, I’ll be organising exciting fundraising days and activities and you can keep track of how I get on here! Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries, so please dig deep!
