Story
In August 2018, a series of earthquakes hit Lombok island in Indonesia, the strongest on Aug 5th killing over 500 people and injuring over 1500. Following this disaster, in October 2018 an earthquake and tsunami struck the Sulawesi province killing over 2000 people, and then on 22 December 2018, a tsunami struck Indonesia after the eruption of Krakatau leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
Having been on Lombok island on Aug 5th, the night of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake, Hannah saw firsthand some of the suffering and devastation this disaster caused. This is a critical time for Indonesia as families are in desperate need of food, water, shelter and medical treatment.
Indonesian Red Cross volunteers and staff were on the ground immediately following the tsunami and will continue to be on the ground for as long as they are needed, distributing emergency relief supplies, including water, tarpaulins and hygiene kits to support people who have had to leave their homes. Your donation will make a huge difference in bringing relief to the people of Indonesia, as they struggle to come to terms with the devastation wreaked by these disasters.
