Story
In 2017, Chris woke up on a normal Friday ready to go to work.
2 Minutes later, our lives were changed forever.
Chris had had a Stroke, at 29 years old. He couldn't speak. He had no language. We didn't know if he could understand us. He couldn't write, so how could we ask him anything?!
We were never to know what his journey would be. What his future was to look like. But with the help of a Community Stroke Rehab Team and now Avanti (ABI), he is starting to be able to accept and progress in ways we could never have imagined on that day 4 years ago.
With research and development into Acquired Brain Injury, SameYou came to my attention with their mission to increase access to the kinds of recovery Chris has been lucky enough to have, and that i believe has changed his outlook and life for the better.
Lets help more people access these services, and improve survivor's outcomes and futures.
1 in 3 people will have an Acquired Brain Injury at some point in their lives - we want to help give people the best possible chance of recovery. SameYou works to increase access to recovery for young adults after leaving hospital and to facilitate innovations in specialist nurse training, fund clinical research and develop evidence for policy change. Our long-term vision is to work with neurorehabilitation leaders to develop a blueprint for a new type of neuro-recovery centre helping people find their way to recovery.
