We fund medical research to treat Secondary Breast Cancer

Story

Thanks for visiting our just giving page.

Our names are Matt and Greg, we’re brothers, hoping to raise some money for a brilliant cancer research charity, Secondary 1st, after our wonderful mum, Louise, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

We will be running from England’s east coast to west coast, Newcastle to Bowness-on-Solway in 3 days. This is the more than 3 marathons (92 miles), with the added bonus of carrying a tent and all our gear on our backs.

Our mum has been a radiographer since 1985 where she’s been an active participant in research for patient centred care. It’s this dedication to helping others that led mum to chose Secondary 1st.

The mission of Secondary1st is to help fund research into the prevention, diagnosis and causes of secondary (metastatic) breast cancer and the development of more effective treatments. Metastatic breast cancer kills 1,000 women every month in Britain but thanks to charities like this, there is hope to find a cure where there currently isn’t one.

We will be walking, running, (crying?) our way from one coast to the other starting on Friday 24th of May and finishing Sunday 26th.

Thank you so much for reading this far.

Any support/donation means so much to all of us. Thank you, Matt and Greg

We put Secondary Breast Cancer first. Because there is no cure yet. This disease spreads to the rest of the body and affects women and men. So finding a cure means a diagnosis is no longer an ultimatum. People will have more days doing what matters most, living the life they love.
