Yorkshire Cancer Research is an independent charity dedicated to funding world-leading research to pioneer early cancer diagnosis and discover new and better treatments. Each year we fund £10 million of world-leading research to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

Story

As some of you may know, I am running the Great North Run on September 19th 2010.

Being a Yorkshire lad I thought who better to run for other than Yorkshire Cancer Research. The charity's objective is to promote research in Yorkshire into the causes and cures of cancer, which today accounts for one in four deaths in the UK. Yorkshire Cancer Research funds research by awarding grants to scientists working in universities and their associated teaching hospitals throughout Yorkshire: Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York.

Having had very close members of my family (my sister, Victoria) diagnosed with cancer in the past I thought it was time to join in and raise money to help cancer sufferers have access to some of the best treatments and therapies and hopefully enjoy a long life of healthy living.

No matter how much your donation is, it would be much appreciated.
