Thank you for making it this far to see my fundraising page- I really appreciate the click!
I am by no means athletic or a natural runner…I really have to work at it 🤣 I’m also not competitive and usually just give myself a pat on the back for showing up. However, there couldn’t be a better incentive for me to take on this next challenge.
I’m gearing up to run a 10km race to raise funds and awareness for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), an organization dedicated to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes.
My journey with JDRF began when my beloved, awesome, inquisitive, funny, intelligent, thoughtful (and very handsome) nephew was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2. It was an experience that forever changed my perspective on life. Witnessing his strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit has been both inspiring and heart-wrenching. It is a relentless daily rollercoaster, demanding constant vigilance and management which also impacts caregivers and families. There are absolutely no days off.
So, my hero doesn't wear a cape...he wears a glucose monitor.
JDRF plays a pivotal role in funding research for improved treatments, technology advancements, and ultimately finding a cure. They provide support, education, and hope to individuals and families affected by this condition.
I aim to raise awareness and rally support for JDRF. This tiresome slog of a 10km race will pale in comparison to the strength and determination it takes to live with type 1 diabetes. No contribution is too small, every penny counts. Your donation will provide hope, resources, and opportunities for a brighter future, not just for my nephew but for others affected by this condition.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering a donation to JDRF.
If I reach my target, I'll sign up for a half marathon next time....
