Story
Without the Willow Foundation, my family would not have had the amazing last weekend together they did.
We all thought Netty had come through the other side of her battle with Breast Cancer and she, Dad, Arran, Isla and Morgan (their 3 children) were given an amazing weekend away and a day of skiing at the snow dome from Willow. Little did anyone expect this would be the last weekend Netty was with us.
Her sudden death was heartbreaking and shocking but knowing the memories of this special weekend will bring joy for many years to come is something we cannot thank this amazing charity enough for and if I can help another family get a chance to share a day together filled with as much love and laughter as my family did then the 26.2 miles will be a breeze!
I will be recording my journey from non- runner to marathoner on my Instagram page @hannah_clarebam so please feel free to have a look and hold me accountable!
“At Willow we believe in quality of life and quality of time. Willow is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days. This year we hope to fulfil 1,400 Special Days – a day to anticipate, to share and to remember when happy memories really do count. Sadly for some, it’s a last chance to fulfil a dream with the people that really matter. Thankfully for many more their Special Day is an important opportunity to put much-needed normality back into living.”
