Fight Bladder Cancer was founded and is run by patients and carers and how now grown to become the most active advocacy group and charity for bladder cancer in the UK. FBC provides information and support to everyone affected by bladder cancer, runs national and local awareness campaigns, supports medical research into better treatments and campaigns at the highest levels to turn the spotlight on this much-neglected cancer.
Working with my colleague Lara as Urology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists at Glan Clwyd Hospital we support those affected by bladder cancer and their families in the role of key worker.
In April 2018 I set up a local support group Fight Club Glan Clwyd, to enable patients to learn more about their condition, support each other and raise awareness of the disease. The group is now patient led and is open to anyone in North Wales who is affected by bladder cancer, either themsleves or their partners. We meet on the 3rd Monday of every month in the North Wales Cancer Centre at the hospital.
