Story
In the summer of 2021, my daughter Erin and I headed to Sidmouth beach for her first ever surf therapy session with The Wave Project. I stood on the beach watching a group of young people having the time of their lives, smiles stretched across their faces, and I realised in that moment that the work of this charity was very special and so powerful.
Every young person that is referred to The Wave Project will be experiencing some form of physical or mental health issue, social deprivation or social isolation, but to watch them all having such fun out in the water, you would have no idea that any one of them had a care in the world!
The Wave Project has given Erin a much needed boost of confidence, given her the chance to learn a new skill, build her self-esteem and to feel part of a group of friends with a shared experience. I am taking on this challenge to walk 25km of the Jurassic Coast Challenge 2022 to help raise vital funds for this amazing charity.
I would be so grateful if you can sponsor me if you feel able, to assist young people like Erin to keep surfing and gaining confidence, and to give others the chance to experience the magic and kindness of The Wave Project for the first time.
