Dementia is a devastating disease which destroys the memory and lives of those it affects and all those around them. This has already affected 3 members of my family and is truly heart-breaking. We need to find effective treatments to stop this disease destroying more families in the future. Research in dementia is years behind that of other illnesses mainly due to lack of funding. Help me fund more research for so many affected like Clive and Stella and before it affects our young son, Theo. Thank you from Helen and Mark.
Treatments for this disease have started to emerge with research but we need more to treat those earlier and to even prevent it in those who are likely to develop dementia. Let’s work as hard in dementia research as we do for cancer and we did for covid.
Despite more ill health I managed to run the London landmarks half in April 2025 and am due to run the Royal Parks in October if my health holds up. It has been a difficult time with muscle weakness and inability to control my body much of the time so am doing other methods of fundraising for the cause as well. I am just so determined to help prevent and find successful treatments for dementia.
Seeing Clive and Stella deteriorate slowly and not recognise anyone made me even more motivated to keep the fundraising going for ARUK. I am stabilising on new medications and have some events lined up which I hope I can do as well as some coffee mornings, treasure and eater egg hunts.
Sadly Stella passed away in March 2025 which just makes me even more motivated . We need early detection and treatment (which is coming) to give people better lives.
Let's keeping this going in 2025 and beyond to help find a cure!
