My husband Simon was diagnosed in May 2018 with oralpharyngeal cancer which affected his tongue and five lymph nodes. He was not aware of the possible severity of his condition until he developed a large lump in his neck along with a sore throat and ear ache. Which finally encouraged him to go to the doctor. When Simon and I where told of his diagnosis our world fell apart as did our children's, no one can prepare you to watch someone you love so much endure pain and the fear of the unknown. 

Simon, as those of you who know him is the strongest, kindest, most loving man and never lets life bring him down. His positivity and courage not only got him to where we are today but it also got myself and all our children to look at life in a whole new way; to enjoy every day you are given and to life live to its max. Without the care and support from the amazing staff, doctors, nurses, radiologists, volunteers, family and friends we wouldn't have found light at the end of the tunnel. 

I knew from the beginning of this journey and even before to when I lost my mum to this cruel disease I wanted to give something back to help all those wonderful people who  supported and comforted us through the darkest of days.

I HATE RUNNING. I've never run anything in my life apart from when I am running late! This has been a huge challenge for me, but not compared to those who fight a battle with cancer everyday. Therefore this is why I am here writing this, running shoes at the ready to smash the Barns Green half marathon, and raise money for the Head and Neck charity. Please spare any pennies in your pockets and help me raise the awareness and support for this amazing charity.
