Story
On the 6th October 2013, my Mum Helene Jennings peacefully passed away at St Barnabas Hospice. She was mother to myself and my brother Dexter, daughter of Olive and Ron Simms and sister to Lillian Brinklow.
She was the most gentle, beautiful woman who always thought about and put others before herself. Even throughout her illness she put on a brave face to make sure the people around her were happy and free of worry.
Helene first developed cancer in 2000 and fought it on and off for 13 years. She was one tough cookie!
She had the support of many great friends and family members.
Over the last few weeks St Barnabas did so much to keep Mum as comfortable as possible, they even helped with rehabilitation so that she was able to come home for a couple of weeks to spend time with her family and friends. When I first went to visit Mum at the hospice, I couldn't believe what an incredible place St B's is, and then when you remember its run by charity, its unbelieable. As a family we felt the least we could do is attempt to return the favour and try to support them in anyway possible.
