London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'll be running the London marathon in April with Toksy (or several miles behind him) for the Alzheimer's Society. (**He's running for a different charity & has a separate page**).

This is a cause really close to my heart, as my dad was diagnosed with early onset dementia around 6 years ago. It's hard to put into words how it feels to see someone you love have to live with this disease, but the sad reality is it's an experience lived by so many people.

Receiving a diagnosis of Alzheimers is a truly frightening and life changing moment for all those involved. Alzheimer's Society provide such a valuable resource of advice, information and support for people who are going through one of the most difficult times in their lives, at all stages of the journey.

When dad was still living at home, he'd go to a weekly coffee morning organised by Alzheimer's Society. It was so reassuring to know he had some routine in his life and was interacting with others that understood his illness (while enjoying lots of cake). Local services like that really are lifelines for people, and they can only continue with funding. That's why I'm aiming to raise £2,500 for this amazing organisation - your support would be very much appreciated!
