Story
The Heller sisters are doing something silly… nothing new there we hear you say...
However, this is the biggest endurance challenge we’ve ever tackled together…
On 1st July 2017 we’ll be running 44 miles non-stop from Borth-y-Gest on the west coast of Wales to Conwy on the north coast of Wales, taking in the 3,329 ft ascent to the summit of Mount Snowdon along the way.
Rosie has never run further than 26 miles before. Bee has never climbed Mount Snowdon. We’re hoping that by combining our past experiences, where each other are lacking, we’ll be able to support each other through the event.
In an effort to make us feel slightly less silly for willingly putting ourselves through 10 to 12 hours of pain, we’ve decided to use the opportunity to raise money for mental health charity Rethink.
For us running is a tonic, mood booster and vital part of looking after our own physical and mental wellbeing so it seemed apt to combine entering a running event with supporting a mental health charity. Furthermore, last year someone close to our family sadly suffered tragic consequences following years of trying to cope with depression and mental health challenges. We can’t change what’s happened but we’re more aware than ever of the importance of making support available for people suffering from mental health issues.
Rethink provide expert advice, mental health services and support groups, and campaign nationally for policy change. Every year they directly support over 60,000 people to get through crises, live independently and realise they are not alone.
If you can spare a little cash to donate to Rethink we’d really appreciate it.
Thank you.
