Campaign by The Captain Tom Foundation (RCN 1189808)
In summer 2020 Captain Sir Tom united the nation and gave hope when it was needed most. Carrying on his journey, The Foundation has been set up to continue to inspire people and ensure Tom's message of hope becomes an enduring legacy.

Story

2020 really was the year where the World changed, but it also opened peoples' eyes to see real life. The Great coming together is how many would describe a time where strangers helped other strangers in every way possible. There was also the chance of hope in the near distance, from afar a frail gentleman, warmed the hearts of the nation to make a difference to the times we faced. Sir Tom at the time would go on from raising £1000 from walking 100 laps, raising over £33 million and still counting nearly one year on. A man who gave so much to his country, kept giving until his final days.

Hi my name is Jay, Thor is my cosplay character along with this amazing Team at Herohq UK. We have all come together to form an amazing group over the years but the last year we really stepped up. Spiderman reached out along with Captain America, Ironman, Black Widow, Thor and others like Batgirl to deliver birthday wishes, well wishes, charity fundraising and social distance door visits. All done and not a penny asked for. Over 12 months our page grew by over 1500 followers. Some of us were on radio and even did charity runs and walks for charity in cosplay, which raided £1000 for Little Miracles based in Lincolnshire.

With the gyms closed in lockdown, as a team we all got athletically fit. We ran, walked and cycled covering thousands of miles between us. We now want to put ourselves through it again and for a cause we were all touched and inspired by.

Captain Toms' passing this year came as a blow to us. We never wanted him to go but was even harder to accept Covid-19 was guilty of his sudden passing. Thor came up with a crazy idea to celebrate his 101st birthday, the team got in on it and this is what we came to decide.

30th April will be the day we all as heroes come together to celebrate the birthday of a true born hero. The charity has officially already begun with Batgirl (Natalie Williams) with her partner Kamal doing 101km walk, completing the final 11km on 30th April dressed as Batgirl.

21st April 2021: Spiderman (Steven Parker) will dust off his running trainers and complete 10km a day, completing the final 11km on 30th April, dressed as Spiderman. Also taking up this 10 day 10km challenge is Captain America (Dean Gregory) and his Partner Donna Owst.

30th April 2021: Happy Birthday Tom, we celebrate your 101st birthday with Spiderman coming across the finish line with Cap and Donna, In the distance we see Caped crusader Batgirl completing her 11km with Kamal armed with his Camera for a photo finish. Next up Black Widow (Amanda Marriott) skates into position to do 101minutes on roller skates, but not far behind is Ironman)Mark Storr showing off his skateboard stunts for 101minutes. Well he thought he was getting away with it, but not a chance. Thor (Jay Gray) is pumping up his tyres, gulping down a protein drink right before he sets off for an estimated 6 ½ hour bike ride! 101miles of road he has to cover, however he will reach 100 miles, dismount,  suit up as Thor and run the final mile, bringing the big Herohq UK fundraiser to a close.

A day we are excited about, maybe a little nervous about. Bring the cheers the tears and the donations to a great day for a truly great man and a great cause. I will also add that on finishing, Captain Toms' specially brewed Gin sits waiting to be opened, so advice on how best to drink this fine gin is much appreciated.

Thanks so much so getting this far with the reading, alot to take in I know. Thanks again
