We train hair pro's in mental health skills to create a world free from suicide.

Story

The Lions Barber Collective is an international collection of top industry figures which have come together to help raise awareness for the prevention of suicide - the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. We wanted to tap into our own community and beyond to hit our joint target contribution of £10,000. Join us to run, walk, hike - or even cycle - 5 miles on Sunday 6th June 2021. Why five miles? That's how far a lion's roar travels! 100 people raising just £100 each would ensure our target is met; and every participant who raises over £25 will receive an exclusive Lions Barber Collective medal to proudly recognise their achievement. The donations will help the charity to continue their amazing work to raise awareness of mental illness and help to prevent suicide by creating training that enables hair and beauty professionals to recognise, talk and listen out for symptoms of depression. === About Lions Barber Collective... Our mission is to create non-clinical, non-judgemental safe spaces where people feel comfortable to talk about their mental health & signpost them to support and information. We do this by creating awareness, interest and desire in barbers to train & the general public to know where to find or access help. We will train the barbers using both our online and face to face BarberTalk training education packages that provide barbers with the skills to RECOGNISE, ASK, LISTEN and HELP TO HELP. Our vision is of a world free from suicide!

About the charity

We aim to raise awareness for mental wellbeing and suicide prevention, which we hope will lower the stigma and taboo surrounding them. We also aim to educate barbers to be able to RECOGNISE the signs, when to TALK, how to LISTEN and the ability to SIGNPOST those in their chairs and communities.
