Riding from Holyhead to Chester (90-100 miles) for Archie & Hurler Syndrome

100 miles in one day · 28 May 2022
Archie was diagnosed with Hurler Syndrome in March 2021 & had a Bone Marrow Transplant in April 2021. His Transplant consisted of Chemotherapy first, the transplant itself and plenty of medications and treatments before and after.
Hurler Syndrome is a very rare genetic disease. 1 in 100,000 babies are diagnosed with MPS 1 - Hurler. Bone Marrow Transplant is not a cure but provides immediate benefits include correction of the missing or deficient enzyme. The long-term benefits include a longer life by protecting the heart, lungs and brain from the effects of progression of MPS I. Other organs and tissues can also show benefits from the therapy; these include the eyes and ears, liver, spleen, joints and airways. Even after a successful transplant and experiencing several benefits many people with MPS I may still require a range of orthopaedic surgeries.
Following Archie’s diagnosis the MPS Society have provided us with much needed support. Archie is one year post transplant and therefore we thought we would raise money for the MPS Society so that they can support many other Families like our own. It is also their 40th Anniversary this year so we aim to raise as much money as possible!!
On Saturday 28th May - Mark (Archie’s Dad), Jim, Neil & Henry are going to cycle 100 miles in one day! This is not going to be easy however they are going to push through just like Archie our little trooper did through Transplant. It will be an adventure 🚴
Please give as much money as you can 💙
