Story

Hi, I'm Hope Rees.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In September, I will be moving to Zimbabwe for 3 months to volunteer for Restless Development on a development programme. This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most.

HIV/AIDS is something which I am really passionate about and so I will be working alongside volunteers from the UK and Zimbabwe, on a project that aims to improve peoples sexual and reproductive health and rights.

ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development.

90% of my program is funded by the government, however I need help to raise that final 10%. In order to do this, I need to raise £800 for Restless Development who are one of the respected development charities that deliver ICS. This will allow them to continue to bring about positive change in the developing communities where they work. You can check out their amazing work here: http://restlessdevelopment.org/uk

I must stress, NONE of the money raised goes directly towards paying for my placement, rather it contributes to the ICS programme so that 7,000 young people from the UK and overseas can volunteer like me on projects in the developing world and fight poverty.

I’m going to be carrying out a number of events such as a sponsored bike ride from the Brecon Beacons to Cardiff Bay, numerous cake sales and a Quiz night in aid of raising my target. You can keep track of how I get on here on my Justgiving page or on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/hope.rees

Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries, so please dig deep!

Thanks for your support!
