Howes Percival along with sponsors: Mercer & Hole, AFL Hyperscale, AllThingsBusiness and PJ Care will be taking on the Parks Trust 25 Mile Challenge in Milton Keynes on Friday 7 October 2022 to raise funds for MK Food Bank.
The MK Food Bank provides emergency food parcels to families and individuals in Milton Keynes, who have hit a short term crisis. Operating through local care agencies e.g CAB, Social Services etc they can ensure people are receiving help with their underlying issues. MK Food Bank wouldn't be able to do this without the ongoing kindness and support from fundraisers and supporters, both in terms on money and food donations. With thanks to your incredible generosity they can continue to sustain this increase and support communities in the Milton Keynes area.
Due to the current cost of living crisis MK Food Bank's demand for emergency food parcels has increased by 27% since 2021 however, donations have dropped by 33%. With the cost of living due to increase again in the Autumn and winter being MK Food Bank's busiest period they are running dangerously low on supplies. As a local business in MK we want to help support those in crisis in MK and will therefore be walking The Parks Trust 25 Mile Challenge to raise money for this charity.
The Parks Trust challenges you to complete a 25 mile route through the parkland of Milton Keynes in a day.
Starting in one of our semi-ancient woodlands, Howe Park Wood the 25 mile route guides you through the Tattenhoe Valley, to Furzton Lake and along the Loughton Valley and on to Lodge Lake. You’ll be introduced to the famous concrete cows as you make your way up through the North Loughton Valley and to the edge of Linford Lakes Nature Reserve. Turning south you’ll pass through Great Linford Manor Park and join the Grand Union Canal to Willen Lake and onto Campbell Park where you will discover many pieces of artwork and one of the best viewing points in Milton Keynes. The final part of the route follows the River Ouzel, through Ouzel Valley Park concluding at Caldecotte Lake.
