This year the Northampton Office of Howes Percival are supporting The Northampton General Hospital (Registered Charity Number 1051107). A group of staff, family and friends have agreed to enter into The Run 09 Northamptonshire as a way of getting fit and raising some well needed cash for the Clinical Neurophysiology Department.

Clinical Neurophysiology is an area of medicine concerned with testing the electrical functions of the brain, spinal cord and the nerves in the limbs and muscles. This is done to assist in the diagnosis of a wide range of conditions affecting these parts of the body.

Amongst the conditions that the department diagnoses the most well known is probably Epilepsy. It is particularly difficult to diagnose young children and babies, as part of the testing undertaken requires small electrodes to be placed on the scalp of the patient and any movement can adversely affect the results of the test.

All the funds raised in sponsoring our runners, joggers and walkers will be used to purchase portable DVD players amongst other things which can be used with the children and younger patients in an attempt to either get them off to sleep or at least to remain in one place for the duration of the test!

We hope to raise £500 - collectively the team will be running 110 kilometers on 4th October - please dig deep and help us acheive our target!
