Story
After years of growth, collaboration, innovation and reflection, UNC’s Mexican American Studies program has officially changed its name to Chicana/o and Latinx Studies (CLAS). This name change will better reflect all communities within the Hispanic/Latino/x diaspora and allow the faculty to continue to provide a culturally based education for current and future CLAS students to thrive in.
With this exciting step forward in our program we have been designing a new masterplan to create and sustain an Institute for Chicana/o and Latinx Studies (ICLAS). ICLAS will be a hub to for innovation, collaboration and community engagement.
Your gift to ICLAS during the Bears Give Back Giving Day will support us in:
Creating new and innovative pedagogy,
Finding solutions to issues impacting local communities through community-engaged research,
Highlighting Chicana/o and Latinx culture through on-campus speakers and events,
Providing culturally relevant activities and celebrations for the UNC campus community,
And so much more!
Any gift, no matter the size, will make a tremendous impact for our program, and for current and future CLAS students.
