Schneider Electric Paris Marathon 2023 · 2 April 2023 ·

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

Hi all

Last year, goaded to join them by other members of my local running club, I signed up for the Schneider Electric Paris Marathon on Sunday 2nd April 2023.

I run regularly with my local club – Ruislip Running Club (RRC) - but had to step up training pre-Christmas to take on this challenge. I have never run a marathon before and had only run a half marathon back in 2010. I then didn't run until I joined RRC in 2020 starting with a C25K course.

I am now 6 weeks out from the big day and thought I should probably use this as an opportunity to raise some money for charity.

The charity I have chosen is Refuge https://refuge.org.uk/

Kelly, my wife, works for this charity who help women and children who are affected my domestic abuse.

Refuge is the largest specialist domestic abuse organisation in the UK. On any given day our services support thousands of survivors, helping them to overcome the physical, emotional, financial and logistical impacts of abuse and rebuild their lives — free from fear.

If you are able to donate any money for this cause as well as give me that extra little boost in my training it would be most appreciated.
