My story is twofold.

I am the Mortuary and Bereavement Services Manager at Noble’s Hospital and have held this position since 2005. Part of our duties are to provide bereaved families with information in the early stages of loss. In October 2017 the Noble’s Hospital Relatives Support Service (RSS) was launched as a central point of contact for this information. We struggled to find a suitable location for the RSS Office within Noble’s, but after a couple of meetings a partnership was entered into with Hospice IOM and a wonderful office provided within the Scholl Day Centre. The office is for bereaved families and individuals who wish to discuss next steps and also to collect a deceased patient’s property and the death certification documents. The location of the office ensures families and individuals can meet the RSS staff without needing to come back into Noble’s. I know personally how much of a difference the RSS has provided and if collectively we can make the bereavement journey slightly more bearable we need to ensure the service can continue.

My second reason is to purely acknowledge the professionalism and care of the Hospice IOM staff when my mum passed away there in 2018. This was a very difficult time for me, my family and our friends. We were helped massively by the care and dedication of the Hospice team.
