The Battle of Carlingford · 28 May 2022

We stop men dying by suicide. Since opening in 2018, we’ve helped more than 5,100 suicidal men access free, life-saving therapy at our centres in Liverpool, London and Newcastle. 75% of deaths by suicide are men, but suicides are preventable. Donate today to help save lives.

Story

On the 28th May 2022, I will compete in a 7.5km open water swimming event called "The Battle of Carlingford". I am doing this to help raise funds for the charity James' Place. The race will be incredibly challenging but worth doing for what they did for me and for what they have done for so many others, who are in suicidal crisis.

During the most difficult and challenging period of my life, when my world was falling apart and I couldn't see any other way out, I was introduced to James' Place. During my time at James' Place they gave me the help and support to start turning my life around.

I can never truly repay the team at James' Place for what they have done for me and for countless others, but I would like to try and raise at least £1000 for the charity. The money will go towards continuing the incredible work they do.

The mission of James' Place, is to stop men dying by suicide. Yet in the UK, suicide is the single leading cause of death in men under the age of 50. We believe that no man should face suicidal crisis alone. James' Place provides free, professional therapy for men in suicidal crisis to help them find hope for the future.
