Story

Thank you for visiting my page.

It's a privilege having children, it's fun being around them and it's a roller coaster being one! Children have many amazing qualities, just one of many is that they are absolute heroes when facing a terminal illness. They don't hate. They don't regret. They smile and they get on with it like the superheroes they are.

As you may know, the wife and I consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have had a little super hero of our own last year, Idrees, who introduced us to a world of many other superhero children facing a terminal illness. Our eldest son, Idrees, graced us with his presence for 5 days and was only a little baby, but he was - and continues to be an inspiration for me. It's because of my son that I started to run and raise awareness for children's charities. We only ever spent five days at a children's hospital, although, it was the most humbling time of my life. There, children were dealing with conditions which most of us could not fathom. One of the most challenging and far-reaching of these conditions includes Cancer.

Unfortunately, terminal illnesses like cancer do not discriminate against age, gender or race. However, we do live in a time where we are able to find new and innovative ways to combat cancer -with great success too! Our collective effort, as a community, helps shape a promising future for the next generation.

I challenged myself last year to run two marathons for 1) a heart charity and 2) a children s charity. This year I am running the London marathon for an amazing charity, 'Children with Cancer'. It is a charity dedicated to helping children and young people. The charity spends 85% of its donations on prevention and treatment research in order to find more ways of combatting cancer in children. The other 15% is spent on helping families and providing different forms of support for children battling cancer. They have a huge reach and their work is invaluable in dealing with and treating cancer. Should you be interested, here is a link to their website which shows some key statistics - http://www.childrenwithcancer.org.uk/facts-and-figures.

Everyone has an interpretation of life. My interpretation, and my cause, has changed recently (for the better – so I say) and that is that we are all here to leave this world a slightly better place than when we came, and that we can learn something from everyone -regardless of how young they are or how long they lived. I hope that we learn to live more fuller lives - and not simply watch life go by. Go see the world. Go swim that 5k. Go run that marathon. Go explore the continents. Go learn an instrument……. Whatever you dream of - go live it.

As I mentioned in my campaign last year, Sanam and I are not hard done by. Our son wasn’t taken too early. The arrow of time only moves forward and so should life! Time wishing and wallowing is time wasted! Life is brilliant, no matter how long or short it is. I only started to run recently and over the last year, my little boy inspired me to run 1 x Marathon, 2 x Half Marathon and 4 x 10k’s- all raising money for charities related to childhood illness. This is our cause and we are determined that because of our little superhero, one day, a child will benefit with a positive prognosis and diagnosis.

Thank you everyone for your continued support. We are forever grateful! Everyone's donation goes towards a great cause!
